Building Bridges in Flagler’s Time. Step into the shoes of a Gilded Age engineer! Students will explore the incredible innovations of Henry Flagler’s era — from electricity to the telephone — and discover the various types of bridges that helped connect Florida’s coast. Using creativity and problem-solving, students will design and build their own bridges, testing to see which structure can hold the most weight!

Gilded Age Art Adventures. The Gilded Age was a time of elegance, grandeur, and artistic expression. In this hands-on workshop, students will explore the styles and materials that defined Gilded Age art, from simple pressings to grand paintings. Inspired by what they discover, students will create their own work of art to take home.

The Art of Writing. This engaging activity invites students to closely explore a piece of artwork in the museum, using careful observation, imagination, and background knowledge to craft a vivid short story or expressive poem inspired by what they see. By interpreting details, mood, and possible narratives within the piece, students build visual literacy skills while fostering creativity and forming meaningful personal connections to the artwork.
