Gilded Age Jewelry: The Making of Modern Luxury

ON VIEW FEBRUARY 18, 2027 – MAY 2, 2027

Guest Curated by internationally renowned jewelry historian and author Carol Woolton in collaboration with Flagler Museum Chief Curator Campbell Mobley

Coming to the Flagler Museum in Spring 2027, Gilded Age Jewelry: The Making of Modern Luxury will explore the extraordinary creativity, craftsmanship and cultural forces that transformed jewelry during one of America’s most dazzling eras. Guest curated by internationally renowned jewelry historian and author Carol Woolton in collaboration with Flagler Museum Chief Curator Campbell Mobley, the exhibition will bring together exceptional works, significant loans and new scholarship, illuminating how the Gilded Age helped usher in a new era of modern luxury. Featuring over 150 objects, including tiaras and other exceptional examples of Gilded Age jewelry, the exhibition draws on loans from jewelry houses Boucheron, Cartier, and Tiffany; the Victoria and Albert Museum (V&A), Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, and The Metropolitan Museum of Art; the Duke of Rosebery and Blenheim Palace; and private lenders including the Al Thani Collection and Albion Art.

Poised to be the most ambitious exhibition in the Museum’s history, it will offer a fresh perspective on the artistry, innovation and social history behind some of the period’s most remarkable jewels.
